Giovanni Trapattoni, played for 13 years with the Rossoneri (1957-1971) and was by far one of the most loyal players in the history of Milan. In the end, he only played for two teams: Milan with 274 appearances (with 3 goals), and his last (also retirement) season in Varese where he played only ten games. The midfielder made a decisive constribution to AC Milan, while he made a career of “Trap”-ping his opponents plays by just nearly missing his opponents ankles.
At the complete opposite end of his player loyalty record was his career as a coach, where Trapattoni joined more than ten teams. Among the clubs he coached, there was Milan for two seasons (1973/74 and 1975/76) before his exploits at Juventus, and in addition to those were 2 teams at the national level (Italy and Ireland).
In 2006, he assumed his return to the Rossoneri as head of the Milan youth squad but without any great results. As a player, “Il Trap” had a respectable track record, having won 2 Champions League titles, 2 European Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 1 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, 1 Coppa d’Italia as well as 2 Viareggio Tournament Cups.
