Better to have in excess than to have less. As most fans of AC Milan know, the Rossoneri always have had a third jersey, commonly with a red collar and black sleeves. This idea was created during the 1932/33 season, and it is unknown exactly how many times that is has actually been worn. However, it was noted that they wore it, for the first time, during a friendly match played on May 4, 1933. It was against the white-and-sky-blue jerseyed Racing Club of Paris, trained by Peter Farmer who was formerly a technician of Marseille and Torino.
It is worth knowing, Milan’s third jersey does not bring any particular luck, especially considering the friendly match played at the Velodrome Buffalo in the french capital, that ended up with a heavy 6-0 defeat in favor of the parisians. It was played at night, and it appeared to have affected the Rossoneri who were not accustomed to artificial lighting. But a 6-0 score is 6-0 score, regardless of the lighting. For the french this game served as preparation for the final of the French Cup, in front of forty-thousand spectators. Milan on the other hand continued its tour across the alps with a second match against Marseille, ending in 2-2 draw; and then the tournament ending in Nice with Bristol beating them 3-1.
