In Milan it was said that Trabattoni (Milan’s president at the time) wanted to create a solid symbol representing Milan: it’s captain Carlo Annovazzi, would play with the Rossoneri for 10 years. In short, he lived up to the expectation. His only flaw despite his 50 goals in over 292 games, was the team he was known to be a fan of: Inter. He had tried to join the Nerazzurri in every way possible before, only to give up when Milan opened the door to him instead. Interestingly enough, it was a game against Inter that was marked as the first of his goals in 1946.
It was in 1953 that Milan decided to release him after ten years (three of which he spent in the youth team). Carlo’s next destination was Atalanta, whose fans he would provide much satisfaction. Of his most notable achievements during his time at Milan, the precious scudetto of 1951, the one that ended Milan’s 44 year scudetto dry spell.
