The seven goal marvel game, a game where Milan destroyed Juventus, took place in 1950, and it all sparked off with an unexpected goal. This was the season after the Torino tragedy, and Juventus was the first team to win a championship after that occurence. Meanwhile, the Rossoneri came in second place, trailing five points behind, but with 118 goals scored that season, they had the most (+18 over the Italian champions). As we can see, despite the high number of goals it was not enough to be champions. However, to put the Bianconeri’s lack of strength in perspective, the two matches played between them that season, the results were so oddly paired, with a 1-0 for Juventus at San Siro (played October 2, 1949) and compared to large spread created by the Rossoneri with a 7-1 win on February 5, 1950.
Milan played in front of 50,000 spectators, among them the legendary Fausto Coppi (Juventus fan) all the while, the famous trio of Rossoneri attackers Gre-No-Li scoring without end. AC Milan gained a quick lead of 3 points within a span of 26 minutes. At that point they knew they could not lose. Juve having scored their first and only goal by Hansen after 12 minutes, lost their enthusiasm very quickly. Milan engaged their fifth goal and began to dissolve the Bianconeri with incredulity, melting them like snow in the sun as they suffered a Nordahl hat-trick and additional goals from Gren, Liedholm, Candiani and Burini. To add insult to injury, Juve was also reduced to ten after Carlo Parola’s suspension, as he committed a serious foul on Nordahl.
