Milan Fact: The First German Rossonero

first-german-rossoneroBefore Karl Heinz Schnellinger or Oliver Bierhoff, there was Johann Ferdinand Mädler of Stuttgart. He was known as the first German player to wear the Rossoneri shirt. He was recruited in 1902 during a finale loss against Genoa, and thereafter temporarily left the team for a while until he returned in 1906.

He remained there until 1909 which proved to be a three-year period during which his personal trophies amounted to two scudetti. In 1906, he scored 3 times in 4 games. With a range of work obligations and play abilities, he was asked to play only occasionally throughout his football career.
