Milan Fact: Inter’s Curse on the Rossoneri

inters-curseInter’s Curse it was said and perhaps with a bit of exaggeration, occured when the forty-four members that left Milan for Inter, told Camperio and the other loyal milanistas, that they put some sort of curse on Milan. It went as follows: “You will not earn a scudetto for the number of years equaling our numbers.” It may be a coincidence, but the time it took the Rossoneri to reclaim the scudetto of Italy was exactly forty-four years. It would be four and a half decade dry spell of scudetto-less years, until finally in 1951, Milan won their fourth italian championship. It helps to mention, however, that in 1916, Milan won the Federal Cup, a national trophy that had replaced the scudetto, as it was suspended because of World War I. This cup was never recognized as an official Italian championship title.
