camperio-such-a-bad-temperIt was said that “Giannino”, Giovanni Camperio, was a man with a bad temper, that went from having tantrums and fits, and was not the type to go back on his decisions. His bad manners, combined with other hostilities sealed the split and the eventual birth of Inter. Because of his temper, a few years later, had lead to another split in 1913, but that time smaller and equally heavy, when many players chose Inter: Gigi Rizzi, Julio Bavastro, the five Cevenini brothers and the Mauro brothers. This group gave way to Filgio Di Dio (“Son of God”) Renzo De Vecchi, who ended up going to Genoa in the same year.

Before becoming a manager, Camperio, was a founding member, and wore the Milan jersey, having won the Medaglia Del Re (King’s Medal) of 1900. Thereafter in 1908, he became coach in place of Angeloni. Going from being a technical coach at Milan for three years, and a total of thirty-three games. He also became a chairman for seven days from 22 to 29 January 19o9, right before the assembly was called to elect Pirelli. For the national team Camperio lead the Italians for three games: one against France and two against Switzerland.
